How to Check a Robot Parts Order When It Arrives
Use a safe receiving checklist to match delivered robot parts to the order, record visible condition and quarantine concerns before assembly or powered testing.
Match the parcel to the order record
Check the supplier, order reference, package count and delivery date before mixing the contents with existing stock.
Keep the packaging and delivery note until the contents and any visible damage have been recorded.
Identify each component without guessing
Match manufacturer part numbers, labels and quantities against the order. Separate visually similar items into labelled containers.
Do not infer voltage, current, chemistry, connector pinout or compatibility from appearance alone. Use the exact manufacturer documentation.
Record visible condition before use
Under suitable supervision, photograph crushed packaging, bent pins, cracked housings, contamination, missing labels or other visible concerns.
A visual check cannot prove internal condition or safe operation. Do not power a suspect component to see whether it works.
Quarantine discrepancies clearly
Place damaged, unidentified, incorrect or incomplete items in a marked area away from build stock. Record why each item is held and who will decide the next action.
Follow supplier and manufacturer instructions for returns, storage and hazardous items; involve a competent adult or technician where appropriate.
Update the parts log
Add the received quantity, exact reference, storage location and status to the project record. Link photographs and correspondence to the same order reference.
Do not mark a component compatible merely because the expected quantity arrived. Compatibility still requires a configuration-specific check.
Release parts to the build deliberately
Only move identified, undamaged and appropriately reviewed items into the active build kit. Keep power sources and sensitive components under the required controls.
